How we are paid — commission disclosure
Water Waste Savings (water-waste-savings.co.uk) is operated by SwitcherMate Ltd, a UK-based business utilities broker — what the industry calls a third-party intermediary (TPI). This page explains plainly how we are paid, because you should know that before you use any broker, including us.
The short version
- Our service is free to your business. You will never receive an invoice from us for comparing or arranging quotes through this site.
- If you choose to switch or sign a contract through us, the supplier or provider pays us a commission.
- If you decide not to proceed, you pay nothing and owe nothing.
How the commission works
Commission arrangements vary by market. In business energy, commission is typically included within the contract rates the supplier offers — a small amount per unit of energy you use, agreed between us and the supplier. In water, waste and card payments, the provider typically pays us a fee or a share of their margin when a contract starts. In every case the commission is paid by the supplier or provider, not charged to you on top.
You can ask us at any time how much commission we expect to earn on a contract we recommend, and we will tell you. We would rather explain our earnings than have you wonder about them.
What we compare
We compare quotes from a panel of trusted UK suppliers and providers that we work with. We aim to work with a broad panel in each market, but no broker covers every supplier in existence, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we will always do is show you like-for-like options from our panel and never recommend a contract we would not sign ourselves in your position.
Our incentives, honestly stated
Because we are paid on completed switches, we have an incentive for you to switch. We manage that conflict the only way that works: no pressure, no obligation, and advice we are willing to put in writing. If staying with your current supplier is the right answer, that is what our specialists will tell you — a reputation for straight answers is worth more to us than any single commission.
Regulation and complaints
SwitcherMate Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 16568958) and registered with the ICO (ZC080646). Business energy brokerage is not currently subject to statutory regulation by Ofgem, and we will never claim to be "Ofgem-regulated" — no broker is. If you are unhappy with our service, tell us and we will put it right; if we cannot resolve a complaint, we will explain the independent routes available to you for the market concerned.
Questions
If anything on this page is unclear, ask the specialist who calls you — being able to answer questions about how we are paid is part of their job.
